5th edition of the Mário Ruivo Prize - Ocean Generations

Nominations are now open for the 5th edition of the Mário Ruivo Prize - Ocean Generations, an initiative dedicated to young people between the ages of 14 and 21 that rewards the making of films that promote greater awareness among younger generations of the role of the ocean in its many dimensions.

This year's edition, dedicated to the theme "Ocean: a heritage that unites generations", aims to draw attention to the deep connection between the ocean and the preservation and maximization of human rights.

The films submitted by the young filmmakers will be judged in four categories - Message, Creativity, Scientific Culture and Future, and a prize of €2,000 will be awarded for each of these categories. Applications are open until September 30, 2025.

EurOcean's member, FCT, together with the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the Mission Structure for the Extension of the Continental Shelf (EMEPC), the Cinemateca Portuguesa - Cinema Museum, the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) and the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), are part of the Prize Organizing Committee, which is coordinated by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy (DGPM).
