Davide Gamboa, researcher at CESAM/DGEO, has contributed to the discovery of one of the largest hidden freshwater aquifers on the planet, located beneath the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Cod. The findings, from the IODP Expedition 501, reveal vast reserves of low-salinity water that could supply cities for centuries and open new perspectives on global freshwater resources in the context of increasing demand and climate change.
