EurOcean was invited to the 36th Annual International Research Ship Operators (IRSO) Meeting, held in Bergen, Norway, from 22–25 September 2025. The gathering brought together representatives from 49 organizations across 30 countries, collectively managing more than 100 of the world’s leading marine research vessels.

The IRSO forum is a key platform for strengthening collaboration among research ship operators, sharing expertise, and advancing best practices in marine data collection and open access. Throughout the meeting, EurOcean was mentioned in several presentations, with the establishment of EurOcean highlighted as an important milestone for the international research fleet community.

Honoring Mr. Per Niewjaar (Former president of EurOcean: 2009-2012), the very first IRSO Honorary Member, upon his retirement.
