The Coalition of Waterfront Cities, Regions and Islands (CO-WATERS) is a new Horizon Europe initiative running from 2025 to 2029. It is designed to strengthen the capacity of waterfront territories as they navigate environmental and climate challenges. The project offers a suite of tailored services, including networking opportunities, peer learning activities, training, stakeholder and citizen engagement support, and guidance on funding instruments. CO-WATERS brings together 17 partners and includes six pilot territories. It will also introduce a dedicated label that recognises cities, regions and islands with ambitious and forward-looking transition plans.
As part of its launch activities, CO-WATERS is organising an online workshop titled “Co-create the support you need to lead the transition to clean, healthy, and resilient water systems” on Wednesday 3 December 2025 from 13:30 to 15:30 CET.
Waterfront territories are at the forefront of climate and environmental pressures. Through CO-WATERS, we aim to work directly with local and regional actors to ensure they receive the guidance and tools needed to drive the transition toward more sustainable water systems.
The session will be facilitated by Stickydot, drawing on their extensive experience in participatory processes and dialogue facilitation in research and innovation. The workshop will take place in English via Zoom and will be highly interactive, offering space for exchange and shared learning.
