CESAM researchers participated in the international conference Ocean and Human Health, held in Lisbon on 11–12 December, which brought together scientists, policymakers and civil society to explore the links between ocean health and human well-being. Organised by CESAM researcher Luís Menezes Pinheiro, the event addressed key global challenges including climate change, marine pollution and biodiversity loss, in the context of the UN Ocean Decade.
Through scientific contributions on topics ranging from marine pollution and reproductive health to innovative approaches against marine pathogens, CESAM researchers highlighted the importance of a One Health approach and reinforced Portugal’s role in advancing interdisciplinary research at the ocean–health interface.
