EurOcean Member Nausicaá Publishes Book: L’Océan, Notre Futur

Oceanographer Christine Causse has recently been featured on two national French radio programmes to present her book L’Océan, notre futur, published by Éditions Glénat in partnership with Nausicaá.

On 28 January 2026, she was invited to the programme Chroniques littorales on France Inter, where she introduced the objectives of the publication. Designed as a richly illustrated and accessible volume, the book showcases the diversity of marine ecosystems, from coral reefs to the deep sea, highlighting the beauty, complexity and richness of ocean life. At the same time, it emphasises that scientific knowledge of the Ocean remains incomplete and that much remains to be discovered.

Christine Causse also took part in the cultural programme L’Oreille est hardie on La 1ère, where discussions focused on the state of the Ocean, the challenges facing marine and coastal territories, and the collective responsibility required to ensure its preservation. Particular attention was given to the role of France as a major maritime nation through its Overseas territories, and to the importance of mangroves, coral reefs and island systems in the face of climate change and sea level rise.

Structured around four main chapters, the book brings together essential knowledge to understand the Ocean as a planetary system, explore the links between coastal societies and marine environments, examine the high seas, and reflect on future perspectives towards a sustainable blue society. Contributions from Nausicaá experts further reinforce its scientific grounding and educational ambition.

Through these media appearances, Christine Causse contributes to strengthening ocean literacy and raising public awareness of the need to better understand, value and protect the Ocean as a common good and a vital source of life.
