Calls Open for CommOCEAN 2026 in Bergen

The call for presentations, workshops, parallel sessions and posters for CommOCEAN 2026 is now open. The seventh edition of the marine science communication conference, organised by the European Marine Board, will take place fully in person in Bergen, Norway, from 2–3 September 2026, with an icebreaker on 1 September.

Under the theme “Communication for and within the UN Ocean Decade: Setting Sails for 2030”, the programme will address Artificial Intelligence in ocean communication, geopolitical and security dimensions, citizen engagement and ocean literacy, as well as an open session for emerging topics.

Contributions are invited for short plenary talks, interactive workshops, “circus sessions” and posters. Proposals should clearly outline content, format and impact, with a strong focus on engagement, innovation and lessons learnt.

The deadline to submit proposals is 1 May 2026 (23:00). Responses will follow approximately two weeks later. Questions can be addressed to the CommOCEAN 2026 secretariat.
