The EU4Ocean Coalition is the European Union’s flagship initiative on ocean literacy, uniting organisations, projects, and individuals dedicated to increasing public understanding of the ocean and promoting sustainable ocean management across Europe.
The third phase of the Coalition officially launched at a Kick-Off Meeting held on 3–4 February in Brussels, bringing together consortium partners to define objectives, timelines, and responsibilities for the new contract period. Supported by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), EU4Ocean III aims to further strengthen Europe’s ocean literacy community and expand opportunities for engagement across sectors and regions.
Coordinated by Stantec, the consortium brings together seven partners from around Europe: Stantec, EuroGOOS, EurOcean, World Ocean Council, Blue Cluster, EuroMarine, and EMSEA.
EurOcean will focus on the EU4Ocean Platform, led by EuroGOOS, helping to enhance it as a central hub for organisations, initiatives, and individuals working on ocean literacy. By improving the Platform’s visibility, accessibility, and collaborative potential, EurOcean will support connections and knowledge exchange across Europe’s growing ocean literacy community.
Through this role, EurOcean contributes to fostering a more connected and engaged European ocean literacy network, reinforcing collective efforts toward sustainable ocean management.
