The National Research and Development Institute for Marine Geology and Geoecology – GeoEcoMar will host the international workshop “Building a Transnational Network for Sturgeon Conservation in the Black Sea Basin” on 7 April 2026 at the ConstanČ›a Casino in ConstanČ›a.
The event aims to strengthen regional cooperation to protect sturgeons and their habitats across the Black Sea Basin and the Danube region. Participants will learn about the project’s progress, objectives and early results, alongside the launch of new digital tools including a project web platform, mobile application and a mapping tool identifying key feeding and spawning areas.
The workshop will also feature a dedicated session linking SturNet with related initiatives, including collaboration with the Horizon Europe MARBEFES project, highlighting the importance of coordinated action for marine biodiversity and ecosystem protection.
