The EMSEA Annual Conference 2026 will take place from 30 September to 2 October 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together the marine education community for three days of collaboration, learning and networking.

The conference is organised by the European Marine Science Educators Association and will be hosted by the Institut de Ciències del Mar, in collaboration with SUBMON and Plàncton Divulgació i Serveis Marins.

Held on the Mediterranean coast, the event will feature talks, workshops, networking opportunities and collaborative sessions aimed at advancing marine science education across Europe and beyond.

Call for abstracts open

Participants are invited to submit abstracts by 20 April 2026 (23:59 CET). Contributions are welcome across seven thematic areas:

• Ocean Literacy Networks
• Ocean Literacy in the Mediterranean
• Blue Education
• Citizen Science
• Ocean Literacy and Art
• Ocean Literacy Research and Data
• Open session for additional ocean literacy topics
