Call for Challenges: Ocean Hackathon® 2026

The call for challenges for Ocean Hackathon 2026 is now open. Innovators, researchers, companies, and ocean enthusiasts are invited to submit their ideas and join the next edition of this global event, taking place from 16–18 October 2026 across multiple local venues worldwide.

Organised by Campus mondial de la mer, Ocean Hackathon® is a 48-hour, non-stop event where multidisciplinary teams collaborate to develop prototypes using marine and maritime data. Since its launch in Brest in 2016, the initiative has built an international community focused on digital innovation and ocean sustainability.

Submit your challenge by 30 May 2026

Individuals and organisations are invited to propose a “challenge”, from early-stage ideas to more mature projects seeking expertise or a technical boost. Selected challenges will be tackled by teams during the hackathon weekend, with winners from each local edition advancing to the International Grand Finale in Brest.

To be eligible, challenges must:

  • Be linked to the ocean and seas, including sustainable development or preservation
  • Lead to new ideas or innovative solutions
  • Be based on the use of data
  • Require the development of a prototype during the event
