Organised by GeoEcoMar in partnership with Cu Drag from Sulina Association, the “Love the Ocean: River meets Sea” workshop introduced participants to the connections between the Danube River, the Danube Delta and the Black Sea.
Students from Jean Bart Theoretical High School took part in an interactive environmental workshop highlighting the vital link between rivers and the ocean during the Green Week school programme.
Through interactive sessions and field activities, students stepped into the role of researchers. They measured key physicochemical parameters of Danube water, including pH, conductivity, temperature and transparency, explored marine biodiversity, and examined how pollution impacts the entire river–delta–sea system.
The workshop aimed to foster ocean literacy and strengthen young people’s understanding of how inland waters and marine ecosystems are closely interconnected.
