The 37th International Research Ship Operators (IRSO) Meeting will take place in Cardiff, Wales, from 14–18 September 2026, hosted by the National Oceanography Centre (NOC). The event will also celebrate 40 years of the IRSO network, which brings together research ship operators from 49 organisations across 30 countries.

Hosted at TechniQuest in Cardiff Bay, the meeting will include workshops, oral and poster presentations, networking events and discussions on key topics related to marine research vessel operations and ocean science.

The programme will cover themes such as research vessel performance and greening, safety and training, scientific technologies, legal and insurance frameworks, and international cooperation and outreach.

Alongside the conference sessions, participants will have the opportunity to join social and cultural events, including an icebreaker reception, gala dinner and a team-building day exploring Cardiff’s maritime heritage.
