The International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2026) will take place in Rome from 2–4 December 2026, bringing together scientists, policymakers, research infrastructure operators, funding organisations and industry representatives to discuss the future of global research infrastructures.
Recognised as the flagship international forum for strategic dialogue and cooperation on research infrastructures, the conference will explore how advanced facilities, services and data ecosystems can strengthen connections between science, society and diplomacy.
The programme will include plenary sessions, breakout discussions, networking events and site visits to research infrastructures, alongside the launch event for the 2026 ESFRI Roadmap.
Key themes for this edition include the socio-economic impact of research infrastructures and their growing role as instruments of science diplomacy, fostering international collaboration, trust and shared scientific responses to global challenges.
