More than 25,000 people gathered on the beach of Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Nausicaá – National Sea Centre, marking the milestone with a large-scale aquatic spectacle that combined art, technology, and a message of ocean conservation.
Conceived as a tribute to the local community that has supported the centre over the past three and a half decades, the anniversary event showcased water displays, music, and visual projections designed to inspire audiences while reinforcing the importance of protecting the ocean. The celebration was made possible through the collaboration of Nausicaá's teams, local authorities, and regional creative and technical partners.
The anniversary also attracted extensive national media coverage, with features on France 2's Télématin, France 3, and M6, highlighting Nausicaá's evolution since opening in 1991 and its ongoing mission to raise awareness of marine conservation, support scientific knowledge, and engage the public with ocean issues.
As it marks its 35th anniversary, Nausicaá reaffirms its commitment to serving its region while continuing to promote ocean literacy, marine biodiversity conservation, and greater public engagement with the ocean for generations to come.
