The Land-Sea 2026 conference will take place on 30 September 2026 at the Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels, bringing together scientists, policymakers, observation communities and local and regional stakeholders to discuss how Europe can strengthen observation of the land-sea interface.

Organised by the EU-funded LandSeaLot project, the conference will focus on the development of a Common Observation Strategy for these critical areas where terrestrial and marine ecosystems meet. The land-sea interface is facing growing pressures from climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss and changes in carbon cycles, making effective and coordinated observation increasingly important for understanding these ecosystems and supporting informed decision-making.

The event will showcase progress made by LandSeaLot and perspectives from its nine Integration Labs across Europe, while exploring how in-situ and satellite observations, modelling, citizen science and cost-effective observation technologies can be better integrated. Participants will also have the opportunity to share experiences and contribute to shaping future approaches to observing and addressing challenges at the land-sea interface.
