Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences Receives European Intelligent Development Award 2026

EurOcean member the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) has been honoured with the European Intelligent Development Award 2026, recognising its work in developing innovative numerical models and digital decision-support systems.

The award highlights the achievements of IO PAN’s Marine Ecohydrodynamic Laboratory, headed by Prof. Lidia Dzierzbicka-Głowacka, whose research supports marine and aquatic environmental protection, sustainable resource management and climate change adaptation.

By connecting scientific research with practical applications, the Laboratory’s tools contribute to responsible natural resource management, improved safety and greater resilience to environmental and climate-related challenges.

The official award ceremony will take place on 3 September 2026 in Gdańsk, Poland, during the Gala of the 11th European Smart Growth Award, held as part of the European Smart Growth Forum.
