Registration Opens for International Forum on Bycatch of Marine Megafauna

Registration is now open for the International Forum on Bycatch of Marine Megafauna (IFBMM), taking place from 12 to 15 October 2027 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

The conference will bring together researchers, fishers, policymakers, industry representatives, conservation organisations and other stakeholders to advance practical solutions to the accidental capture of marine megafauna, including seabirds, marine mammals, sea turtles, sharks, rays and skates.

The programme will explore topics ranging from bycatch monitoring and emerging technologies to gear innovation, spatial management, policy and governance, and co-developing solutions with fishers and local communities.

Abstract submissions for presentations, workshops and posters are open until 31 January 2027, while conference registration will remain open until 10 September 2027.

The IFBMM is jointly organised by several European initiatives and organisations, including SEA4Future, alongside CIBBRiNA, ECO-CATCH, MarineGuardian, Marine Beacon Project, LIFE PROMETHEUS and REDUCE.
