Stronger Together: Marine Research Infrastructures for the Ocean We Need
On 4 November 2026, EurOcean Members, Cooperating Members and invited guests will gather in Venice, Italy, for WAVE 2026 – Weaving Action, Vision & Expertise. This year's edition is hosted by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and will bring together Europe's marine research community to exchange ideas, share expertise and strengthen collaboration towards a more connected and sustainable ocean future.
Building on EurOcean's mission to connect knowledge, people and ocean initiatives, WAVE provides a platform for its community to meet, exchange perspectives and inspire new partnerships across Europe.
Under the theme "Stronger Together: Marine Research Infrastructures for the Ocean We Need", this year's edition will explore the strategic role of marine research infrastructures in advancing European ocean science, supporting policy priorities and fostering innovation and cooperation.
Through a series of presentations and discussions, participants will explore European policy ambitions, including OceanEye, national marine research infrastructure landscapes, opportunities for greater integration and access, and the importance of connecting infrastructures, data and expertise across Europe.
WAVE 2026 will take place in a hybrid format, bringing together EurOcean Members, Cooperating Members and experts in Venice, while also welcoming a wider audience to join the discussions online. The event offers an opportunity to discover the work of EurOcean's network, exchange perspectives and explore how stronger partnerships can help build the marine research capacity Europe needs.
Join us online on 4 November 2026 and be part of the conversation on the future of European marine research infrastructures.
