The Ocean Conference aimed at reversing the decline in the health of our ocean by promoting a game-changer type of stakeholder involvement in the form of nearly 1400 new initiatives voluntarily undertaken by a wide range of organizations.
Governments, the United Nations system, other intergovernmental organizations, international financial institutions, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions the scientific community, the private sector, philanthropic organizations and other actors were invited to voluntarily commit to actions that would support the Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG14 - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) targets. This initiative was actually open at a worldwide scale including for those not attending the event. The result is already impressive and we are not done yet.

EurOcean, its Members and project partners made sure they were part of this global and ambitious movement by submitting eight actions. These focussed on a wide range of objectives from raising public awareness to developing strategic international research cooperation or from enhancing new sustainable governance models to advanced science training.
