The UNESCO-IOC International Ocean Literacy Conference, held in Venice on 4-5 December 2017, was truly a success! And now you can watch a video about it.
Since December so many things have happened. First of all the approval by the United Nations General Assembly of the IOC-UNESCO proposal of an International Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
You can find more information here.
The IOC - a EurOcean Cooperating Member - of UNESCO, in consultation and in collaboration with relevant both UN and non-UN actors and stakeholders, has been mandated to develop the plan for the Decade, and ocean literacy is already one of its strategic objectives.
You can download the Ocean Literacy for All toolkit from this link.
The toolkit will be also soon available in French and Spanish. The IOC Ocean Literacy Platform will be soon online to serve as a tool to strengthen our collaboration. And soon there will be a written report of the conference, and some ideas on how to continue the work.
